Force Unleashed To Be Released September 16

LucasArts has finally confirmed that The Force Unleashed will be released on September 16 for the US, September 17 for Southeast Asia and Australia, and September 19 in Europe.

Peter Hirschmann, Vice-President of Product Development, had the following comments: “Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is one of the most ambitious projects LucasArts has ever launched. The combination of a great new Star Wars story with revolutionary new technology and game play means more fun than you’ve ever had in the Star Wars universe. We can’t wait until gamers get their hands on it this September.”

Force Unleashed at GDC 2008

GameInformer magazine got the chance to check out both the Xbox 360 and Wii versions of Force Unleashed at this years Game Developer’s Conference. And we learned a few new things about the game. The most interesting part was about the Wii version. A bit of the exclusive duel mode multiplayer was shown off and it is reported to feature over nine arenas and over twenty classic Star Wars characters. Before it sounded like the duel mode was only with characters from Force Unleashed, but with classic characters it makes the Wii version that much more enticing.

Here is Ripten’s impressions from GDC:

Epic Force Unleashed Moment to be Delivered

Secret Apprentice
Variety Magazine has an article in their March issue that uncovers some things about The Force Unleashed. Most interestingly, the article states the game has a moment “almost as good as the “I am your father” moment from Star Wars: Episode V–The Empire Strikes Back.” Can’t get much more epic than that. The game is also supposed to have an unexpected amount of info on the birth of the Rebel Alliance.

To read the full article you can go to Vanity Fair. I admit I did not read the full thing to avoid spoilers but it looks to be a great read and a great look into the game.

Also watch an exclusive gameplay video: link.

Also the video is on YouTube but the sound is not very good. Let us know if a better version shows up.

Exclusive Force Unleashed Levels for Wii

Force UnleashedEd Tucker of Krome Studios recently spoke to NGamer Magazine and confirmed that there will be five levels exclusive to the Wii version of Force Unleashed to make up for the lack of DMM and euphoria.

“On the Wii we have places where the story veers off and we go and explore something, take the game in a different direction, like the Jedi Temple level,” Tucker stated. “There are five levels that aren’t in the PS3 and 360 versions.”

Tucker also spoke on the lack of DMM and euphoria. They have added physics engines of their own but they are not up to the standards of the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. “The likes of Euphoria and DMM are groundbreaking and we couldn’t copy them. What we did was try to look at the concept and idea behind it and get as close as we could. The ragdolls in the Wii version are robust, they look really good.”
