Videogamer.com got a chance to talk with the producer of The Force Unleashed Cameron Suey again and discuss more in-depth reasons why the game is not for PC. You might recall Suey was the one to comment on why TFU was not for PC back in May to very negative comments.
“In this case, it just really wasn’t feasible. As much as I really understand everybody’s concerns and I really understand that people want to play the game on their platform of choice, the truth of it is, the way this game is designed, based around these physics, that are simulation based and very procedural, it would take a very powerful PC to pull them off. This is definitely stretching the Xbox and the PS3 really to the farthest they can go.”

Difficult my butt. More like you are too lazy to do it correctly. I am not running out and spending my next months’ mortgage on an over-glorified paperweight, just so I can play this game. So if you want to sell ME one, it WILL be a PC version.
Are you honestly trying to tell us that the the average person’s computer today is no more powerful than a 333mhz, 64 MB hand held device. Come on guys do you think we are idiots?! The game itself is not coded in the proprietary console formats right off the bat, and if they were, that means you would have to go back and rewrite the code individually for EVERY CONSOLE YOU ARE SUPPORTING. So spare us, you have the means to place it out for PC. So instead of trying to fake us out, why don’t you tell us the REAL reason you are not going to put it out for PC. Trust me when I say we are big boys/girls and we can handle it.
I’m already playing the game on my ps3 bought it today. It came out last week here (canada) , at Game buzz. I found it strange because it only comes out officialy on the 16th ! I even asked the guy if this was the real game or just a display lol. Fun game butreally linear and no multiplayer

I agree with Katan. Do you really expect us to believe that this game that is SO POWERFUL that it cant be run on most average pc’s, can be played on some little hand-held toy? Sorry, DS is for children. Who is going to play such an amazingly complex game on a freaking game boy? PLUS what the hell kind of crap computer cant emulate those things anyways? By not releasing for PC you are forcing those of us who actually buy LucasArts games to get them emulated and play them for free. Come on, these are only excuses, Devil May Cry 4 runs better on my pc than on my cousin PS3 and i have a game mode (Legendary Dark Knight) unsupported on consoles because only PCs can control the horde of enemies encountered on that difficulty setting! A pc, with right settings is cheaper and better than any console, just a bit harder to use sometimes (Get a joypad for some games unless you don’t care for your keyboard!

Anyone with half a brain knows that this response was a lie. Someone above said that all the code was originaly wrote on a pc then ported over onto the consoles. This is correct! Look at all of the consoles, they are just an old outdated overpriced pc inside. Google “Whats inside xbox 360″ Sata dvd rom drives and samsung laptop hard drives are some of the highlights. Also, if this game runs on the weak performance of a wii, anything is possible. (Wii also runs a ATI graphics chip and an IBM processer) Still not PC enough for you?
The stupid thing is that all of lucasarts best games have been released on pc only. the rebel assault series the xwing series (none of this starfighter or rogue squadron crap) the dark forces series empire at war and the monkey island series. and all their other games have had both pc and console releases its only recently they have shut us out. and ill cite the recent release of supreme commander on the 360 as another game pcs can handle but consoles can’t!

I played through the game and they could have done SO MUCH MORE in terms of graphics and game play with a PC. They really shorted themselves as far as the 3 combined technologies of the game go.

Look. My computer is two generations old and if very efficient and can run faster and stronger graphics on Bioshock, then either the ps3 or the xbox 360. Thinking that low about PC gamers is just down right insulting. This is so upsetting because the PC is an EVERYTHING STATION not just a play station. There is a truth within this lie actually.. Yea, there is limitations, and not because there is a version on Wii, DS and PS2 that it ‘would make good on PC’.
The type of game that is TFU is ment for Console… it is a ‘ninja gaiden’ type of sort and the addition (while not used to the full extent IMHO) of the new technologies of Euphoria and DMM is the keystone in to why the game was Console only.
Go take a look at the Wii/PS2 graphic, and you would have cried out loud for poor graphic if it was sent to PC that way… You’d expect X360 and PS3 graphic, which can’t be done on PC right now. It is not the same technology, while they use common parts (see it as ‘trucks vs cars’, similar, common parts, not the same use).
Besides, it is also a matter of marketing as well. No matter what LA does, they’ll have hordes of fans, or just casual consumer, that will be flames&torches at them.
To consoles: Always remember, that you are weak against the power of PC.
So, LucasArts, do you, foolish company, wants to say us, that Wii is more powerful than PC? You even don’t know what is true power! I have Jedi Academy, Jedi Outcast, and SW: Empire at War. Now I see everything clearly. Microsoft paid you to make this game to consoles only. How much? 2, 3, 4 or 5 million or more?

i’ve been a big fan of star wars for almost 30 years now. i’m also a big fan of pc games. as many others i have bought all of the star wars pc games lucas arts put out on the market…. and i have really been looking forward to play this one.

As a PS3 owner, I bought the console because I wanted a Blu-ray player and because I wanted something that could play games that belong on consoles: Fighting Games, Final Fantasy-esque RPGs, and Rock Band/Guitar Hero.
This type of game belongs on the PC. Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Jedi Academy… the series originated on the PC, that’s where it should stay.
I, for one, will not be purchasing any more LucasArts products as a direct result of their new approach toward the platform that started them out.
Games are a source of entertainment. I have plenty of options, and plenty of other games/game developers that want to sell me their product. As such, good luck with your new approach LA. You have officially lost a long-time customer.
I, for one, call bullshit. As many have already pointed out, current-generation PCs are for the most part notably more powerful than current-gen consoles. Right there the argument is rendered moot. End of story. Game over.
Also — “pushing the 360 and PS3 to its limits”, yet the same game is also on the less-powerful Wii? I guess they didn’t think we would analyze that statement at all. The only thing I can think of is that Lucasarts has struck some type of deal with console developers, or they simply think there is more money to be made in the console market.
Then again, maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. I’ve been pretty dissapointed in the recent Star Wars games on PC. Republic Commando played like it was made for middle-schoolers. In fact — are you sure you didn’t mean to release that on console and Unleashed on the PC, lucasarts?

I have a less than $900 PC that plays Crysis on HIGH with a res. of 1920×1080 with an average FPS of 58. Those settings alone are more than any console out there can do.
I mention CRYSIS because its the most system performance demanding game there is right now. Like when Doom 3 came out nothing could handle it at highest until like a couple years later.
Have they NOT considered NVIDIA PHYSX??? It is in all the new cards!
My old card the GeForce 8800GT 512MB was more than enough to play Crysis on High setting with a resolution of 1280×800 with FPS around 40, are not console’s main FPS 30-40? I tell ya playing that game with those settings and a 360 controller for PC makes it feel like a console cause it is so smooth with a controller, seems like its playing at a higher FPS.
My new card the GeForce GTX 285 1GB card plays it just fine and NO overclocking. My system will last well into the next-gen console and some and keep up with them too.
