Force Unleashed Patch 1.2

The second patch for the PC version of The Force Unleashed has been released. This is mostly a general performance increase patch with a few other updates. You can download the patch from LucasFiles.

Patch notes:

General performance increase on all supported configurations.
DMM performance increase.
Added Version number update in launcher.
Rogue Jedi’s tunic is now visible during gameplay.
Emperor’s arms are now visible during gameplay.
Fixed parts of the “Dark Lord’s Armor” from continually bouncing

Patch 1.1 Added to LucasFiles

LucasFiles, the only officially-endorsed file site for LucasArts games, has been updated with patch 1.1 for the PC version of The Force Unleashed. Both 32- and 64-bit versions are available so make sure to download the one that is appropriate for your operating system. If you have not patched your game yet, it is recommended you do so to improve performance.

Read the patch notes below:
This update includes general performance improvements and additional controller support:

Added a detail setting to improve performance on lower end (dual core) machines
General performance optimizations
Addressed audio stuttering issues
Optimized in-game cloth handling
Optimized in-game trees leaf handling
Addressed options disappearing briefly after pressing [Esc] at the Main Menu
Addressed flashing placeholder text
Added additional controller support:
- Xbox 360 Controller for Windows
- Xbox 360 Wired Controller
- Logitech Rumblepad 2
- Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2
- Logitech Dual Action Controller
- Saitek Cyborg Rumble
- Saitek P32 Rumble

ForceUnleashed.net Gets A Makeover

As you probably noticed, ForceUnleashed.net has seen a significant design overhaul. I hope you find this version of the site to be both more visually pleasing and easier to navigate than the previous design, which was long overdue for an update.

Aside from wanting to give the site a new look, I also wanted to make the site be able to present media more effectively. As many of you requested in our previous design, galleries are now separated based on platform and other categories. You can view all the new galleries in our new media hub, with the promise that there is much more to be added still.

The site also needed a fresh design heading into The Force Unleashed 2 coverage. With the game slated to be out this year, expect LucasArts to start ramping up their marketing for the game soon and give us info on what new features will be present.

Lastly, feel free to leave a comment if you have any suggestions, notice anything wrong, or want to give your opinion on the new look. Hope you enjoy!

The Force Unleashed Invades PSHome and XBL

To coincide with the release of the Hoth DLC level for Xbox Live and PSN, many new Star Wars-themed avatar items are now available on PlayStation Home and Xbox Live Marketplace. You can check out galleries of both the PSHome and XBL items at the LucasArts Workshop blog. And keep your eye out as it sounds like there is more to come!

Force Unleashed Now Available for Mac

For those Mac gamers out there feeling left out after Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition was released for PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 late last year, the wait is over as the game has been released for Mac. Aspyr, the company that handled the PC port, also developed the Mac version, though their product page for the game has not been updated. You can get the game at Amazon.

Force Unleashed Hoth DLC on Xbox Live and PSN

For those of you who did not purchase the Ultimate Sith Edition of the game, the previously-exclusive Hoth level has now been released as DLC for both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network! You can pick up the DLC for 800 MS points or $10. Now no matter which version of the game you own, you have access to all the same content.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 Announced at VGAs

Earlier tonight at the Spike Video Game Awards, Samuel L. Jackson took the stage to announce the newest Star Wars game, The Force Unleashed 2. A cinematic trailer was shown with the Apprentice in something resembling an arena fighting a gigantic beast, much larger than the rancors seen in the first game. He wielded two blue lightsabers.

The game will be released in 2010 according to a teaser site. According to a Kotaku tipster, the game will be “everything the first game could/should have been and a lot lot more (online support!)” We’ll keep you posted with any details that come out about this game.
